Ohio legislators have proposed Cleveland as the potential new location for NASA Headquarters. Ohio House Majority Whip Nick Santucci and State Representative Ty Mathews sent a letter to President Donald J. Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and NASA Administrator Designate Jared Isaacman advocating for the relocation.

The letter describes Ohio as ideal for NASA, highlighting its aviation history and contribution to space exploration. It states, “As the birthplace of aviation and a state that has produced some of our nation’s greatest pioneers in space exploration, Ohio stands as the ideal location to lead NASA into the future."

Santucci emphasizes Ohio's strategic advantages: "Relocating NASA Headquarters to Cleveland is a strategic imperative that will ignite a new era of innovation, create thousands of high-paying jobs, and solidify Ohio’s position as the global leader in space exploration.”

Mathews adds that Ohio is ready to take on this leadership role once more, citing the state's potential to attract essential NASA investments. Ohio’s infrastructure and institutions, including the NASA Glenn Research Center and the Air Force Research Laboratory, bolster its candidacy.

Their letter also stresses Ohio's commitment to workforce development, supported by industry and educational partnerships. The state’s proficiency in aerospace engineering and cybersecurity aligns with NASA's goals.

The proposal has gained support, with 67 Ohio House members endorsing it. Santucci and Mathews plan to introduce a resolution encouraging NASA’s move to Ohio.
