State Representative Nick Santucci’s (R-Howland Twp.) legislation to increase training options for the State Board of Emergency Medical, Fire, and Transportation Services education for EMS personnel has passed the Ohio House.
“It is crucial that our first responders and EMS staff have the most up-to-date and relevant training to perform their duties,” Santucci said. “This legislation will create a process for the best ideas to come forward and be added to the curriculum to train EMS personnel.”
Current law only allows for the State Board of Emergency Medical, Fire, and Transportation Services to establish training and continued education requirements under the direction of a physician who specializes in emergency medicine.
The legislation will now head to the Ohio Senate, where it will be heard in the Senate Health Committee.
