Ohio House approves historic funding for Ashtabula County projects

State Rep. Mike Loychik | The Ohio House of Representatives

The Ohio House of Representatives passed Substitute House Bill 2 today, marking the approval of the state's two-year construction budget for capital projects. State Representative Mike Loychik (R-Bazetta) announced that this budget will make significant investments in local community projects.

Loychik highlighted several capital investments aimed at benefiting Ashtabula County and its surrounding areas:

- $500,000 to renovate the Community Counseling Center of Ashtabula County

- $500,000 to revamp the Shea Theatre with a new kitchen, restroom, elevator, HVAC system, and more

- $250,000 to support transitional housing for homeless youth

- $20,000 to restore the Queen Anne Victorian House roof in Jefferson Depot Village

"I am proud to bring taxpayer dollars back to the 65th House District to support projects that will strengthen our communities," said Loychik.

In addition to these local investments, Substitute House Bill 2 includes statewide capital investments such as:

- $600 million for the School Building Program Assistance Fund

- $400 million for the Public Works Commission Local Public Infrastructure and State Capital Improvement Program

- $397.6 million for higher education projects across Ohio

The bill now awaits a signature from the Governor.
