City of Warren recently issued the following announcement.
Notice is hereby given that the Warren Municipal Service Commission will give a written, promotional, competitive examination for the position of Fire Captain in the City of Warren's Fire Department. The examination will be given on Monday, March 21, 2022, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, at Packard Music Hall, 1703 Mahoning Avenue Warren, Ohio 44483.
The promotional examination is a 150-question examination.
Candidates will be allowed two (2) hours to take the exam.
Pursuant to the Contract between the City of Warren, Ohio and International Association of Firefighters Local #204, effective January 1, 2014, Article X, Section 6, Promotional Requirements:
Ranked members of the bargaining unit hired prior to January 1, 2011, must have served one (1) year in an active pay status in their existing officer position before they would be considered eligible to take a Civil Service examination.
Ranked members of the bargaining unit hired after January 1, 2011, must have three (3) years in an active pay status in their existing officer position prior to the date of the examination in order to be eligible to take a Civil Service examination.
The passing grade for this written examination has been established at seventy percent (70%). There will be no assessment portion of the examination. No credit for seniority, experience, efficiency or any other reason shall be added to the applicant's written examination grade unless the applicant achieves at least the minimum passing grade of seventy (70%) without counting that extra credit.

No application for the examination will be accepted thereafter .
