Ohio, home to a significant military service population, is dedicated to providing job opportunities for veterans and their families. With over 800,000 veterans, military retirees, active-duty personnel, reservists, and National Guard members, Ohio recognizes the importance of supporting those who have served our nation.

In an effort to ensure that veterans have ample access to career opportunities, Chairman of the House Armed Forces and Veterans Affairs Committee encourages military members to visit OhioMeansJobs.com. This website offers unique tools and features, including a military skills translator that helps veterans identify civilian jobs that align with their military occupational specialties (MOS). By entering their branch of service and MOS, veterans can discover equivalent civilian jobs and explore new career paths.

Additionally, Ohio is proud to have over 8,000 military-friendly employers across the state. These employers recognize the valuable skillsets that servicemembers bring to the workforce and are committed to providing career opportunities for veterans. By leveraging these resources, veterans can find employment opportunities that align with their skills and experiences.

Furthermore, Ohio understands the challenges that military families face when transitioning between duty stations or when National Guard or Reserve members are activated. To support these families, Ohio is part of a compact that honors license reciprocity. This partnership allows military members and their families to practice licensed occupations, such as teaching, occupational therapy, nursing, speech pathology, and specified medical professions, without having to go through recertification. Ohio recognizes out-of-state qualifications and offers tailored competency evaluation programs to expedite the licensing process.

Ohio is dedicated to taking care of its service members, veterans, and their families. By providing access to employment opportunities, the state aims to express its gratitude for their service. Efforts will continue to ensure that Ohio remains the best place in the nation for military members and their families.

As the Chairman of the House Armed Forces and Veterans Affairs Committee and an Air Force veteran, it is my commitment to support legislation and initiatives that foster job opportunities for veterans and their families. Ohio is proud to honor the service and sacrifice of its military community and will continue to prioritize their needs.
